Medial Point

As seen on flickr for Self Portrait Thursday.

This material is really great for tunics. I think I'll go buy the rest of it and make a couple more.

I'm supposed to be on my way to Atlanta for business purposes but pushed the trip back to next week. As I mentioned before, my plan is to move there soon (just temporarily), and I'm working on creating relationships with various boutique owners. However--as is quite common with me--I've started second guessing the move. Why? I really can't say. I think, though, that it may have something to do with where I am now. Deep in the woods, no TV (well, there are actually 3 in the house, but none with a converter boxs or satellite..cable doesn't come this way), peace and quite, walks across the street to visit with my grandparents (who do have satellite in case I ever feel like I need TV. I never do.), and a whole house to do as I please with no expenses on my part. Oh, and ceiling fans! I love 'em but haven't lived in a place that had them for years. I think I'm beginning to get comfortable and it's affecting my original plan.

Other than the fact that my computer connection is pretty slow (which keeps me from visiting blogs as much as I used to :-/) there really isn't anything that I resent. I mean, it does take a while to get "to town" to buy groceries and such, mail packages, etc., but I can deal with that. Just have to alter the way I do it all. 1-2 trips a week. (My car hasn't moved since Monday.) Then there's the lack of a farmers market (and the stuff in the stores is more expensive up here), my favorite Greek/Lebanese restaurant, Albertson's grocery store, Joann fabric store (!!), access to good fabric in general, but I make do. This past Sunday I was back in Lafayette and stocked up on fabric, so I should be good for a while.

I must say...these are all things I became accustomed to when I left home and as an adult who sews and eats a certain way, 'cause I grew up between here and not too far from here and am not new to country life. I'm still country in most of my ways (y'all should hear me talk sometimes, ha!). As a children, though, we're much more simple. All I needed was the outdoors and adventure. The grown people and the nature that surrounded me took care of the food. But turns out that I've become one of those grown people -- :-/ .... :-( ..... :-D -- and living in the city (lol @ the idea of Lafayette as "the city". I guess it is, though.) has conditioned me in a certain way. Yet, I've always been able to adapt to my surroundings pretty well, so it's fine. I'm just rambling. It's great here.

So as I was saying, I've been having second thoughts, but a move to somewhere is inevitable. And it likely will be Decatur/Atlanta then who knows where to...

Now. For some music--which has been my primary company lately...

Any youtube clip I post at this point is not one that I can actually see myself without waiting an hour for it to load, but I trust that others can.

Love that design! Great. And as for youtube, same here, it depends on your connection. Many thanks for that track.

Greetings from London.

I loved this post. It made me want to get out there in the woods with you. I was fortunate enough to spend a year in Shreveport, and I loved it. I know it's not necessarily the country per say but I twas very simple and laid back.

Oooh girl. I commend you for sticking with the dial up, lol. I think I'd just kill over if dial up was my only mode of connection. We get too spoiled with all this advanced technology, so much so that it kills us to slow down, lol. I love the fact that you picked up and left and took the time to slow it on down for a bit... took like to smell the roses, or should I say, the pretty green grass.

I think that when you are truly ready you will make that trip to Atlanta and you will accomplish what you originally set out to accomplish. If not, like you pointed out, there are other places to explore or you can always come back home to the peaceful.

An artist needs a retreat in nature now and then!At the end you'll be invigorated by it.Work on your clothes and live peacefully your life, and I'm sure that even a decision regarding the move to Atlanta will pop out by its own.

Kiss,kiss my dear :)!Enjoy it!

Need I saying that I love your dress-tunic :)?!!

I visit your blog on a regular basis but never left a comment. I grew up in New Orleans and spent the summers in Baton Rouge and a small town called Gilbert not far from Monroe, LA.

Take it from someone who has made several moves, I think taking that trip to Atlanta is a good idea. I now live in Dallas, but I have lived in San Antonio, Atlanta, Dallas and now a small city outside of Dallas. Don't let your fears keep you from making your dreams come true. That move to Atlanta could be your ticket to bigger things.

Love this tunic!

Moving is a big choice, so debating it is probably good. Then when you decide to "jump", you'll know you covered all angles.

The woods sure are beautiful.

thanks, all!

@ cubaninlondon--you're very welcom. :-) glad you can appreciate it.

@ cut2clothe--sometimes i really wish i did have someone (such as a peaceful soul like you :-) out here to share the experience with me. it's really quite nice. thank you!

@ ms. bar b--you're so right. as i've grown older, i've become one who waits for a feeling before i make a move. like, that something that lets me know it's time. i feel that where i am now is where i need to be, so when that feeling hits to let me know this time is up, i'll be on the move. (actually, i feel that it's near.) giiiiirl, this dial-up drives me crazy at times! then i have to remember this is all i have for the longest!

@ jasmina--thank you so much, my love. you're the sweetest. :-) very wise words, too.

@ loverofwords--thank you for *THOSE* words. (and i need to contact you, cause presently i'm thinking about a move to dallas instead of atlanta...)

@gallery juana--yep, definitely something to be debated. i don't want go somewhere just to say i went, so i am trying to consider this situation from all angles.
