Did Somebody Say... Fat Tuesday?????

I've got a pretty extensive collection of formal/satiny/dressy materials in my stash, which have been collected over the years from various sources. Back in November I decided that I was gonna use some of it to make formal dresses for the various Mardi Gras related festivities that people attend around here. Now it's mid-January, the holiday falls on February 5th, and the balls/events probably begin within the next week or so, and I'm just now getting these out. Typical me. But still, I think there's enough time between now and then for them to be on the market.

As you may know, Mardi Gras colors are purple, gold, and green. I think these are pretty appropriate.

Gold with rose detailing, boning, and Posh lining. Oh, and an invisible zipper. I love those. This one is best for a size medium-large.

You can't really see the sleeve detail on this one, but there's a thin strip of black material connecting the sleeve to the ruffle on the end. The v-neck is wide and rests on the outer parts of the shoulders. There's a seam down the front, an invisible zipper in back, and black lining on the inside. It would best fit someone who's about a medium, but someone who's a small could wear it as well.

A green one would have completed the collection, but somehow green isn't a color that made it into the collection of fabrics.

These will be for sale at a local boutique tomorrow, and two lucky people will have the chance to own an original, rare, 'she hardly ever does this' flytie formal. :-D I've been advised to do more formals as "that's where the money's at". But I'm not sure. I've got experience doing it on a few different occasions...see turquoise dresses here to get an idea. There were 12 total. Still, I don't know if it's for me, especially on a regular basis.

Anyway, I don't celebrate Mardi Gras, but I might walk downtown to people watch on that day (Just 3 blocks away). It's quite interesting to see all the hoopla that goes on. That's one thing about Louisiana, especially in the south. People don't take celebrating lightly.
