"I Deeeciiided..."

Yes, yes. Really feelin' this song by Solange and absolutely love the video. At first I concluded that it would sound better with someone else singing it (perhaps with a thicker, raspier voice?), but then "I decided" that it's her song and she's doing her thing, so oh well. She gets major props from me for the video alone...throwback themes plus historical content....not the same ol' b.s.

So anyway, here I am. I didn't stay out of the foggy haze too long. By that evening I was back to *blah*. These past 5 days have been comprised of me lounging around the house, kickin' it at my guy's place watching food network (which I can't get enough of), eating watermelon, surfing the internet, and basically just doing nothing. And it felt so, so good. I like doing nothing. I really do.

But then again I guess at certain intervals I did do something, cause I've got a new dress.

My fellow sewing enthusiast and internet buddy sewl sista#1 sent me several yards of that brown and white striped fabric a couple months ago, and I just love it. So bold and stretchy. My initial plan for it was something different (and I may still be able to carry that plan out since there's still plenty left), but in my current creative state, "I decided" to do something a bit more spontaneous. This was just something I made up as I went along. It turned out pretty nicely I suppose.

Also, notice the rare full body shot. I'm trying something a bit different. We'll see how long that lasts, though, since it means I can no longer take pictures with a head scarf on or plaits all over my head. I'm certainly not motivated to get "fixed up" for a full body shot photo after being in there sewing for so long. And since I've gotta be the designer, the seamstress, the model, the photographer, and the everything else, and since I'm usually worn out looking in the face when taking pictures, y'all are the frequent recipients of pictures with my head cut off. Trust. It's what's best for everyone, ha ha! :-)

peace

I really like the dress (and you don't look too groggy in the full shots!)

Gurl - "I've Decided" that your dress is HOT. Do the damn thing. I cannot believe you did that on the fly. Also, just a note on Solange, I like the song and I see the "wanna be Diana Ross" gene runs in the family. The "I can dance like a superstar" gene - not so much!

lol @ mekhismom. supposedly solange is a trained dancer (ballet, jazz, etc.), but i don't guess her music videos call for that type of movement. i liked the lil moves she was doing in this one. silly and fun.

wow...thanks so much everyone for the great comments. funny cause i really wasn't sure about this dress. but i guess it is kinda fly, huh??

re: the body/figure....uh, i notice that my backside looks a bit more...something than it actually may be. perhaps it's the angle? i mean, i do get a lil somethin' somethin' from my mama *and* grandmama, but the pic might be a bit misleading, haaaaa!

(hmmm..or is it???....will inquire to find out)
